description: Banti's syndrome consists of an enlarged spleen with congestion, the result of cirrhosis of the liver, or, a clot forming within the portal vein (vein from intestines to the liver) or splenic vein. The enlarged spleen is often associated with thrombocytopenia and esophageal varices (varicose veins of the esophagus due to increased pressure).
